Situation Review - Shonin Sample

WARNING : SPOILERS AHEAD

So this is another thing I would like to write about since reviews are mostly about the anime and story and stuff like that.
Instead this would be a situation review, Where I write random stuff about the situation that the main character has been put in. There will be spoilers in this obviously but mostly spoilers of the situation that the main character is in and not really on the progress of the story.

The Situation

So a usual day in school and you were kidnapped by a group of large muscular men, You were then dropped of at the gates of an all-girl school, You are forced to stay enroll into the school as a student and your contact to the outside world is kept to a minimum (to keep the school a secret).

A school of rich girls, All well maintained and well mannered, The problem at the school is that when the girls graduate from the school and move to the real world, they experience a sort of culture shock and isn't able to cope with the real world.

So you are brought to the school as a "Commoner" though it may sound like a down-grading title, The girls in the school are most intrigued by you and want to learn all about you "Commoners". A sample of how common people act and behave. A way of preparing the girls for the real world. Sounds like a really dumb solution for the problem but this was the schools way of solving it.

So why did they pick you, well because you are completely average in everything...
But also according to your childhood friend you have a muscle fetish.

Each student has a maid assigned to them, And the maid assigned to you already hate you for some reason :/ . and can't wait to cut your genitals out when she finds out your not interested in muscle men.

The Review of the Situation 

Well doesn't that sound great, Forcibly enrolled into a school where all the girls are so innocent and well mannered, Not only that but because you are a "Commoner" you are instantly the main interest to all the girls in the school. Makes me want to give every girl a hug just to see their over-exaggerated reaction to what would be something very normal to us.

Oh but there is a problem with the situation, The reason they picked you is because the school believes you have a muscle fetish (this is true) but not the way they believe it to be, You like girls thighs, But the school thinks you like large muscular men. (They think you are gay). Of coarse in a school of innocent girls they wouldn't just introduce a pervert into the mix to tarnish the purity of the girls. If they find out you are not gay, they will be forced to cut off your man parts to protect the girls purity. You already know the existence of the school so they cant just toss you for another sample.

Though like in my review of the first half of this anime, They kinda put most of this situation on the back burner and add little situation here and there. It's a shame the situation doesn't actually play much of a part in the first half of the anime and rather was just a way of setting up the main character a reason to be in an all-girl school.


So would you want to be in this situation? 

Force to enroll into an all-girl school, Where you are instantly the most popular guy,
But with the drawback of having to not show too much interest in girls.
 (And show interest in large muscular men).
Doesn't sound that bad right? Especially when all the girls are so friendly.
But beware of the maid assigned to you who might be watching your every move =-= .

Review : Shomin Sample ( Season 1 First Half ) (Episodes 1 - 6)

Finally back and able to spend some time to watch some anime, Spotted this on the front page of Kissanime.com. The last episode would be (should be) out next week on the site.

So I will assume that you already know what Shonin Sample is about.

Shonin Sample like other harems, it puts our main character in a situation where there are girls all around him. The first six episodes plays out like a day to day adventure anime with a progressing main story-line, Though I do enjoy how unique the situation the main character has been put in though story doesn't seem very interesting (yet).

It is a comedy harem though and in that aspect it has done well to make me laugh from time to time,
In terms of character development most of the characters seem strangely flat, They do what most anime's do an introduce the characters at a steady pace but there is little development of their character.

At this point of the season (half way through) as a viewer there are only three main characters who we see development in (out of the five), Though not much. This girl likes him, this other girl likes him we learn a little bit about the girl and that's about it. I'm actually mostly disappointed by how one of the "main characters" is treated like a filler in this first half. (Jinryou, Karen) Hope to see more development in the second half.

The art style is good and meets the "Standard style" for anime's (If you have watched other anime's and you see an episode of this, you would know what I mean by "Standard Style"). The voice acting in Japanese have been done well,


So this is my review on the first six episodes there is six more episodes for this season, So I'm hoping it will turn for the better from here on out. The six episode actually ended on an interesting so I am looking forward to continue watching this.
